SANTA BARBARA – The Loyola Marymount University Lions women's swim team posted a sweep against Westmont and Alaska Fairbanks in their final tune up before the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships.
The Lions took down PCSC foes Westmont 131-54 and Alaska Fairbanks 116-70. The sweep is the second of the season for the Lions as they took down the Warriors and Pepperdine earlier in the season.
In the 200 freestyle the trio of
Anna Doherty,
Caitlin Basulto, and
Sarah Lu went one-two-three for the Lions posting times of 2:00.03, 2:01.63, and 2:05.39 respectively.
LMU took the next two events with
Abby Shaw taking the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.32 and
Heidi Ly winning the 100 breaststroke at 1:10.31. Not too far behind Ly was
Serena Myatt who touched with a time of 1:14.29.
Serena Myatt led the Lions in the 100 free with a time of 56.19 and right behind her was Anna Gasiorowki at 57.04 and Alexis DeBever at 57.54.
In the 500 free Basulto won her first event in a Lions uniform with a time of 5:28.02 and right behind her was
Audrey Hixon who came in second at 5:29.53. Basulto had an all-around great day for LMU with her win in the 500 and second place finish in the 200 free.
The 400 individual medley saw the Lions
Holly Prince come in first with a time of 4:51.30 and to conclude the day LMU's relay team of Myatt, Shaw, Basulto, and Doherty came in first with a time of 1:41.54.
The Lions took home six of the ten events on the day and will head into the PCSC Championships with plenty of momentum to end the 2021 season on a high note. The championships will take place April 14th

in Irvine, California.
