LOS ANGELES – The No. 13 Loyola Marymount University Lions (5-0-1, 4-0-1 WCC) continued their unbeaten streak in 2021 with a 1-0 result over Pacific on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Field.
The Lions offensive barrage was again on display as they outshot the Tigers 13-7 and had the advantage in corners at 5-2.
LMU was tested early on defense by the Tigers as they put up a shot in the 10th
minute followed by a pair of shots on goal in the 12th
minute that were turned away by goalkeeper
Jacob Jackson.
Jackson posted his third straight clean sheet and fifth shutout on the year for LMU. He made four saves on the day and denied the Tigers in the 12th
minute when a shot to the lower left of the box was smothered keeping the game knotted at zero.
The Lions got on the board in the in the 39th
minute when
CJ Neville's header found the back of the net. He worked his way into the box on the attack and
Noel Caliskan and
Ronaldo Brown got him the ball for the assists resulting in LMU's first goal.
LMU played solid defense throughout the rest of the game only allowing Pacific four shots in the second half and no corners to preserve their fifth result of the season.
LMU concludes the home portion of the schedule next weekend when San Francisco pays a visit to Sullivan Field. Kickoff between the Lions and Dons is set for Saturday, April 3rd
at 4:00 p.m.
