LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team (5-9) put up a fight against No. 22 Pepperdine, but dropped the PCH Cup game 3-1.  
 
LMU vs Pepperdine – 21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-25
 
The Lions opened up set one with the first point, after Pepperdine had an attack error. The Waves quickly tied things up and took the lead. The Lions answered, taking the lead back, the teams had 11 tied scores and three lead changes.  The teams were tied at 13-13, until the Waves took a 6-1 run to take a comfortable lead, closing out set one 25-21. 
 
 Down 1-0, LMU answered back in set two. The Waves took the first lead, and then the teams tied things up eight times until 15-15. A 5-0 run gave the Lions a comfortable lead, which ended up giving them a 25-21 set win. 
 
Tied at 1-1, Pepperdine took the lead to open up set three. The Waves only allowed the Lions to tie things up twice, and then won set three 25-20, to take a 2-1 lead over LMU. 
 
The Waves continued their momentum in the fourth set, only allowing the Lions to tie things up three times. Pepperdine closed out set four with a 25-16 win, to take the match 3-1. 
 
The Lions had 45 total kills, 10 a piece from Emmelyn Walters and Kari Geissberger. Walters had an impressive .500 attack percentage. Isabella Bareford led the team in assists, with 37 of the Lions' 43. Ella Boehle had two of LMU's four service aces. Mary Shroll led the team in digs with 43. 
 
The Lions will conclude their season against Santa Clara on Sunday and Monday in Gersten Pavilion.
