LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team pushed No. 18 San Diego in all three of its sets, but fell 3-0 on Friday night in Gersten Pavilion. 
 
The Lions opened up set one with a fight, as there were 14 tied scores and six lead changes. The teams were tied up until 24-24, and then the Toreros scored two points to take the set one win,  26-24. 
 
USD continued its momentum into the second set, as the team did not allow one lead change or for the Lions to tie things up. The Toreros closed out the second set up 25-21. 
 
The Lions forced another closet set, as they came out  strong in set three with 14 tied scores and three lead changes. 
 
Kari Geissberger led the team in kills with 11, while Rose Booth had nine. Isabella Bareford led in assists with 33, of the Lions' 35. Mary Shroll led in service aces with two, and in digs with eight. 
 
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday night to host their second game of the series against San Diego at 6:00 PM in Gersten Pavilion.
