SAN FRANCISCO – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team pushed University of San Francisco to five sets for the second straight night, but the Lions dropped their last match of their road trip 3-2 in San Francisco, Calif.

The Dons opened up set one with three kills, but then a kill from
Sierra Bartley put LMU on the board, the Lions then continued their momentum to tie things up with USF. The Lions were able to take a lead early on, but the Dons responded and took the lead back, but allowed the Lions to tie things up five times. The Lions closed out the first set down 25-16.
The Lions responded in set two. Tied at 9-9, an attack error by the Dons gave the Lions a lead that they held on to for the remainder of the set, coming out with a 25-22 win to tie things up 1-1.
Emmelyn Walters had two block assists and one block solo in set two, while
Rose Booth had two block assists.
Tied at 1-1, a kill from Bartley put the Lions on the board first in set three, but the Dons tied things up and battled neck and neck with the Lions for the rest of the set, as there were 13 tied scores and five lead changes. USF closed out the third set with a 25-21 win over LMU.
Kari Geissberger had six kills in set three, while Booth had five.
The Lions evened things out in set four. Tied at 10-10, an attack error from USF gave the Lions the lead for the rest of the set. LMU continued to extend its lead and won the set 25-18, to force a fifth set.
The Lions fought through set five, as they tied things up eight times, and there were six lead changes, but the Dons came back, and took the set 15-11 to take the game 3-2.
Geissberger led the team in kills with 19, while Booth had 12.
Isabella Bareford led the team in assists with 40, while also leading in service aces with three. Walters had six block assists with one block solo, contributing to the teams' seven total blocks.
The Lions will be back home in Gersten Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday to host Portland.
