LOS ANGELES- The Loyola Marymount University beach volleyball team is heading to Florida this weekend to kick off its 2021 season. The Lions are set to start their season against Georgia State on Saturday at 8am EST. Following that match, they will face Florida State at 3pm. The team will pick back up on Sunday to play Tampa and Southern Mississippi. 
 
The Lions went 6-3 overall and went on a three game winning streak last season, which was cut short. They capped their 2020 season beating #14 LBSU for the first time in LMU beach volleyball history.  
 
Players to watch are Darby Dunn, Megan Rice, Georgia Fusco, Emma Doud, and Savannah Slattery, who all took part in making history last year and will be returning for the 2021 season. 
 
Georgia State went 11-3 overall in their 2020 season with a winning streak of eight. Florida state went 12-1 overall last year. Both teams will begin their 2021 season this weekend as well.
