LOS ANGELES – In the debut game for Head Coach
Jenny Bindon, the LMU women's soccer team erased a halftime deficit to earn a double-overtime draw against California Baptist. The Lions (0-0-1) finish their non-conference slate with a 1-1 tie against the Lancers (2-0-1) and will move into WCC play the remainder of the spring.
Nearing the end of the first half, CBU scored the opening goal in the 42
nd minute of play as Deniah Wells cashed in for the Lancers.
Less than four minutes into the second half, the Lions tied it up.
Madison Thomas scored on a cross that found the back of the net to level the game at 1-1.
The score line remained the same through 90 minutes, forcing overtime.
Both teams had one corner kick opportunity in the added sessions, but neither could find the game-winning goal.
In her debut as a Lion, LMU's goalkeeper
Kendyll Humphreys recorded seven of her nine saves in regulation, and did not allow any of CBU's six overtime shots to get past her.
The Lions will now play nine WCC games over the next nine weeks, beginning with Feb. 20 at Portland. The game will kick-off at 1:00 pm.
