SAN FRANCISCO – LMU men's soccer was minutes away from heading to overtime until
Narciso Cervantes put an exclamation point on the game with his 88
th minute game-winner.
The Lions outshot the San Francisco 19-5 in the game, including taking all 11 shots in the second half.
LMU scored the game's only goal with overtime looming as
Ronaldo Brown took the ball of the foot of
Bastien Oberli at the top of the box and played a slip pass into the penalty area for Duhany Williams. With two touches to create space, Williams fired a left-footed shot on goal that forced a reaction save from the USF keeper. On a first touch rebound Cervantes blasted a left footed shot of his own into the back of the net for his team-high fifth goal of the year.
Time expired on any equalizer opportunity and LMU held on for the 1-0 shutout win.
The Lions have one game remaining on the regular season schedule, senior day on Saturday against Santa Clara.
