Los Angeles – The LMU men's soccer team controlled the action on Saturday night, but could not get anything into the back of the net. Despite program records in both shots (42) and corner kicks (22), the Lions tied Santa Clara, 0-0, in double overtime.
LMU's over 30-year record in shots was broken on Saturday night as LMU took 14 shots in the first half, 15 in the second half, six in the first overtime, and seven in the second overtime. On October 3, 1989, the Lions record 37 shots against Pacific Christian.
The Lions also earned 22 corner kicks, with nine coming in both of the halves of regulation, then an additional one in the first overtime session, and three more in the final 10 minutes.
Creggton Charlton accounted for 11 shots on his own, two off of LMU Athletics Hall-of-Famer Michael Erush's program record 13 in a game in 2001 against Cal State LA.
On the defensive side of the ball, LMU only allowed three shots, with
Jacob Jackson making the save in the only shot on goal by the Broncos.
With the scoreless draw, LMU finishes the conference season at 4-2-1.
