PROVO, Utah – Prior to Saturday's match, #5 BYU had not dropped a set since October 16. LMU women's volleyball took the second set on Saturday, but dropped the match 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 25-22.

LMU took a 5-3 lead in the first set following consecutive aces from
Audrey Klemp. An ace from
Emmelyn Walters was part of the rally that helped LMU go ahead 9-7. BYU used a 5-0 run to take a 16-12 lead, which they held for the remainder of the set.

Megan Rice capped a 3-0 run in the second set with an ace to push the Lions on top, 7-6, in a set that featured 15 tie scores. Rice added a kill coming out of a timeout to break one of those times and give LMU a 23-22 lead, and did it again to put the Lions on top, 24-23. After BYU tied it at 24-all, LMU closed out the set and defeated the home team.

The third set featured the Lions fighting off three straight set points as both Klemp and Rice recorded kills to keep LMU alive. BYU was forced to call a timeout at 24-21 after the Lions climbed back into it, before coming out to score the winner.

With the score tied at 12-12 in the fourth set, LMU took the next three points to take a 15-12 lead. The Cougars then took seven of the next eight points to flip the score and put BYU ahead by three. LMU showed a response and tied the score at 22-22 on back-to-back kills by Rice. BYU again called timeout and closed out the match with the final three points.

Rice led all players with 20 kills, and
Rose Booth finished second in the game with 13.
Isabella Bareford recorded a game-high 43 assists, while
Mary Shroll was the only player for either team to record double-digit digs with 10.

LMU will close out the regular season with three final home games next week.
