LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (11-4-1, 3-2-0 WCC) got goals from
Dylan Shockey and
Steven Anderson and stellar goalkeeping from
Jacob Jackson to run past the Gaels 2-0 on Saturday night.
The Lions and Gaels were feeling each other out in the first 20 minutes of the match before LMU struck. Shockey came out of a scrum in the box and got his shot past Saint Mary's keeper for the first goal of the match.
LMU were the aggressors most of the night outshooting Saint Mary's 15-8 and putting more shots on goal at 10-4 and corners 9-2.
Jackson posted his sixth clean sheet of the season turning away the Gaels at every point of their attack, coming up with a crucial save in the 83rd minute to keep Saint Mary's scoreless.
The Lions increased their lead in the 65th minute off the corner kick from
Bastien Oberli. His corner found
Nick Dauchot who passed it to Anderson for his first goal of the season and the second Lions score of the game which proved to be too much for Saint Mary's.
LMU returns to the pitch next weekend when they travel to San Francisco to play the Dons on Sunday, November 7th with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m.
