PROVO, UTAH – For the first time this month and for the first time in conference play, an opponent held the #12 BYU Cougars to less than three goals. The Lions 30 shots and
Kendyll Humphreys made 11 saves as LMU fell on the road, 2-0.
The Cougars outshot the Lions 18-1 in the first half, but after the opening minute goal LMU buckled down and kept the score at 1-0. BYU scored 54 seconds into the game.
LMU managed three of their four shots of the game after intermission but could not find the back of the net.
Skylar Robledo and
Madison Thomas recorded shots on goals and forced saves from the BYU goalkeeper. Thomas took her shot in the 61
st minute, while Robledo's came right before halftime with 31 seconds remaining on the clock.
Humphreys made seven of her saves in the opening 45 minutes, with the final four coming after halftime. This is her first double-digit saves game as a Lion.
LMU returns home to play University of Portland on Saturday at 4 PM from Sullivan Field.
