CHAPEL HILL, NC. – The No. 15 Loyola Marymount University Lions dropped their final nonconference match of the season to the University of North Carolina Tar Heels 2-0 on Tuesday night.
The Lions finished the nonconference slate with eight wins out of the eleven matches they played and will now exclusively play against the West Coast Conference with sights on winning back-to-back conference championships.
LMU fell behind early in the match when goalkeeper
Jacob Jackson committed a foul inside the box in the sixth minute, leading to a Tar Heel penalty kick opportunity. UNC converted on the PK to take a one goal lead on LMU.
The Tar Heels scored in the 23rd minute to take a two goal lead and the final score settled at that margin.
LMU had four shots for the game with two on goal and one corner.
The Lions return home from their five game road swing and host the University of Portland on Saturday, October 23rd with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m.
