WESTWOOD, CA. – The No. 14 Loyola Marymount University Lions fell 2-1 to UCLA on Thursday night for their first nonconference defeat of the season. The nonconference portion of the schedule saw the Lions win their first eight games and record one tie before tonight's setback.
LMU broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute off the foot of
Duhaney Williams for his first goal of the season. Williams' shot got by UCLA's goalkeeper from a pass by
Ronaldo Brown who was set up by
Braden Fidelak.
Jacob Jackson turned away the Bruins in the first half, saving three shots to preserve the one goal lead heading into halftime.
The Lions lead held until the 69th minute when UCLA tied the game at one then trailed when the Bruins pushed ahead with a goal in the 83rd minute.
Narciso Cervantes tried for the equalizer in the 90th minute but his shot went wide and the Lions dropped their second game of the season.
The Lions return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 19th when they make a cross-country trip to face the University of North Carolina with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m. pacific time.
