Late Game Goals Propel No. 16 Lions

SPOKANE, WA. – The No. 16 Loyola Marymount University Lions (9-1-1, 1-1-0 WCC) got goals from Nick Dauchot and Ronaldo Brown in the last ten minutes of their West Coast Conference matchup against Gonzaga to prevail 2-1 on Saturday night.

The Lions were the aggressors for most of the night to the tune of 20 shots compared to the Bulldogs 13 and led Gonzaga in corners 9-2.

Both teams were scoreless to end the first 45 minutes with the Lions Jacob Jackson turning the Bulldogs away in the waning minutes of the opening half when Gonzaga put up a pair of shots that were saved by the LMU keeper.

In the second half, LMU got on the board first with Dauchot breaking the scoreless tie in the 81st minute. In the 82nd minute the Bulldogs' Logan Dorsey received a second yellow, putting Gonzaga a man down for the remainder of the game and the Lions took full advantage. Ronaldo Brown scored in the 83rd minute giving LMU a two goal lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

The Bulldogs made it interesting, scoring in the 86th minute but the Lions wouldn't be denied and picked up their first win in conference play.

The Lions return to the pitch for a nonconference matchup with UCLA on Thursday, October 14th with kickoff slated for 7:00 p.m.
