Jones Earns Seventh Double-Double Against USF

SAN FRANCISCO – The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team had a dominate fourth quarter against the University of San Francisco, as the Lions pushed the Dons to the end, but couldn't come up with the win. The Lions were led by Jasmine Jones, who picked up her seventh double-double of the season. 
 
The Lions took the first lead of the game, but the Dons responded and went on a 13-1 run to take the lead and end the quarter up 19-9. 
 
The Lions gained momentum in the second quarter and came within two points of USF, but the Dons ended the half with a 10-0 run to take a 37-25 point lead over the Lions. 
 
The Lions continued to fight in the third quarter, putting 20 points on the board, equal to the Don's 20 point quarter. LMU left the third down 57-45. 
 
LMU had a dominating fourth quarter, outscoring the Dons 23-13. The Lions went on a 9-0 run to only trail USF by one point. USF scored three more points, but the Lions continued to respond and tied things up after Aspyn Adams hit a three-pointer. The Dons made a layup with seconds left to win the game 70-68. 
 
Jones led the team in points and rebounds, with 18 and 11, respectively, earning her seventh double-double of the season. Adams was second on the team in points with 15 and went 5-7 from behind the arch. Jones led in steals with five, while Ellington had three. Raychel Stanley and Laura Vaida both had two blocks a piece. 
 
The Lions went 40 percent from the field and 38 percent from behind the arch, while USF went 41 and 36. LMU had five total blocks and nine total assists, while the Dons had two and 10. 
 
Up next: The Lions will be back home in Gersten Pavilion to host Pepperdine.
