LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team played its last game in Gersten Pavilion of the 2019-2020 season on Senior Day, where the Lions honored senior
Raychel Stanley before their game against Portland Stanley put together an impressive career as a Lion, and closed out her last home game with 17 points.
The Lions put together an impressive first half, going on a 10-2 run to open the first. Portland was able to tie things up, but the Pilots never took the lead in the first quarter. The Lions left the first up 21-17.
The Pilots took the lead with the first shot in the second quarter. The teams battled for the lead, but ended the half tied up at 42-42.
The Lions continued their momentum in the third quarter, tying things up with the Pilots twice and taking the lead once.
Laura Vaida took a shot at the buzzer, to end the third down 61-60.
The Pilots extended their lead in the fourth, taking their first double-digit lead over the Lions. LMU wasn't able to keep up with the Pilots, closing out their last home game of the season down 89-78.
Three Lions scored in double-digits, including CiCi Ellington, who led the Lions in points with 19, Stanley with 17 and
Naomi Yim scored her career high in points with 16. Stanley led in rebounds with eight, while Yim and
Aspyn Adams had four assists a piece.
The Lions went 47.6 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line, while the Pilots went 57.1 percent and 77.3 percent. Portland had 12 total assists, while the Lions had 17.
The Lions will take their last road trip of the season next week to take on BYU and San Diego.
