Complete PCSC Results
Over the last four days, LMU Women's Swimming team competed in the PCSC Conference Championships at the East Los Angeles College Natatorium.  Competition began last Wednesday with the 1000 Freestyle where LMU Senior standout, Lanna Kozlowski, continued her outstanding season placing fifth with a season best time of 10:27.96. Kozlowski stands as the fourth fastest in this event in LMU history.  Freshman Lily Gallagher also posted a 'PB' time placing ninth with a 10:35.18, making the young freshman the seventh fastest in program history. Â
The distance duo continued their high performance on the second day of competition in the 500 freestyle, with Kozlowski qualifying for the Championship final (top 8) placing seventh, while Gallagher swam to an 11thplace finish in the Consolation final.  Junior Audrey Hixon placed 22nd.  In the 200 Individual Medley that followed, Senior Christine Chan swam to a season best time of 2:12.07 for a 18thplace finish while Junior, Serena Myatt finished in 16thplace in the 50 freestyle, breaking the 25 second barrier for the first time with a 24.65 in the morning prelims.Â
Friday was a big day for LMU swimmers as all 15 swimmers competing in Friday's events qualified for the evening's finals.  A trio of Lions led off the evening finals with a 1-2-3 finish in the Consolation final of the 100 butterfly with Senior Olivia Nielsen getting her hand on the wall first in 58.02 to claim 9thplace while fellow senior Chan and Freshman Mikayla Tseng followed in 10th(58.32) and 11th(58.58).  Myatt added two more points in the event finishing 23rdin 1:01.14.
In the 400 individual medley, Sophomore Sabine Caplin, shattered her personal best time by over five seconds to place 15thin 4:47.51, while Junior Taylor Pajunen and Sophomore Lydia Zicker nabbed 21stand 22nd place.  Next was the 200 freestyle where Gallagher added a 14th place finish to her Freshman achievements touching the wall in 1:56.51. Freshman MiKayla Tseng finished in 19thplace in 1:59.63 while Junior Alexis DeBever sliced over two seconds off her 'PB' to finish in 21stplace with 2:01.02 (2:00.52 in morning prelims).  In the 100 breaststroke, Freshman Kelli Andrade won the Consolation Final in 1:06.86 to finish in ninth with Zicker finishing in 21st. In Friday's final event, Senior Gabby Carufel was the fastest of five Lions swimming in the 100 backstroke finishing in 15thplace, followed by Hixon (16th), Freshman Sarah Lu (19th), Senior Samantha Smith  (27th) and Freshman Alyssa Stovall (31st).Â
The Lions wrapped up the PCSC Championships on a high note Saturday with two more Top-8 finishes and a flurry of personal best times.  Saturday's Finals began with a ceremony honoring the seniors from all fourteen conference teams including six from LMU:  Chan, Carufel, Kozlowski, Natalie Morlock, Nielsen and Smith.  Kozlowski then took the blocks to race one last time in her Lion swimsuit in the 1650 freestyle, improving her personal best time by seven seconds with a 17:35.14 for seventh place and becoming the third fastest swimmer in LMU history in the mile event.Â
In the second event of the evening, Hixon led a trio of Lions in the 200 backstroke touching the wall in 2:09.46 in 15thplace. Lu placed 17thwith a new PB of 2:09.21 followed by Carufel in 18th with a 2:10.20.
In the 100 freestyle, Myatt knocked almost a full second off her PB in the morning prelims with a time of 53.76 to make it into the Consolation final placing 16th.  Tseng added points for the Lions placing 19th with a 53.90, followed by Chan with a 54.44 in 22nd.   DeBever and Smith swam in the bonus finals placing 27thand 38th with DeBever achieving a PB with a 55.67.
Next on the program was the 200 breaststroke where freshman Andrade again touched the wall first in the Consolation final for 9th place with a 2:26.03 while Zicker added 7 points to the team score by placing 18th.
LMU fielded a strong quartet in the 200 Butterfly with sophomore Caplin dropping 3 seconds off her PB to qualify for her first ever Championship Final.  Dropping another second in her evening swim, Caplin finished in sixth place with a 2:09.88. Nielsen and Pajunen went one-two in the Consolation final for a ninth and tenth place finish with season best times of 2:10.66 and 2:10.74.
LMU finished in seventh place in the Women's team standing with 634 points with Cal State East Bay taking the Women's title with 1354.5 points followed by Pepperdine with 1311.5 and Biola University with 1018.
