LOS ANGELES – With the addition of a new game to the schedule, the LMU men's basketball hopes that the home cooking lasts all weekend. LMU (4-3) has won all four games at Gersten Pavilion this season and host Cal Poly (2-3) on Saturday for what has become the middle game of a three-games-in-five-days stretch.
LMU will face the Mustangs for the first time since the 2013 calendar year, where the two teams met in back-to-back seasons. The Feb. 2013 game was a late season contest as part of the ESPN BracketBuster games. The following season LMU hosted Cal Poly in a true non-conference game and defeated the Mustangs by 20 in Dec. 2013. The overall series has LMU leading 6-4, with both teams defending home court and staying unbeaten in their home gyms.
Much like LMU is familiar with the Big West Conference, Cal Poly has played three other West Coast Conference schools to date this season. The WCC has bested the Mustangs so far, with all three of Cal Poly's losses coming to WCC schools (San Francisco, Santa Clara, and San Diego).
Cal Poly has yet to leave the Mott Atheltics Center and will be playing their first road game of the year Saturday.
LMU announced on Friday afternoon that the team will host California Baptist on Monday night.
Both games will tip at 6 p.m and air on the WCC Network online. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Live audio can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM.
