LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team will kick off its 2020 season this weekend in its home opener against San Francisco and Santa Clara, which will mark the team's first conference matches of the season.
"We are excited to kick off the season with our first matches and those matches being WCC opponents," said head coach
Tom Lloyd. "Both teams are very well coached and I expect two very tough matches this weekend."
The Lions head into dual play with eight veterans including,
Ryan Brown,
Austin Di Giulio,
Cartier Juan,
Max Kaiser Lucas Moreno,
Diego Nava,
Thien Nguyen and
Ethan Prost. LMU welcomes five newcomers including,
Alvaro Gonzalez, Keenan Mayo,
John Bryan Otico,
Alex Rushin and
Emin Torlic.
Head coach
Tom Lloyd enters his seventh season with the Lions, while assistant coach
Alex Moreno will head into his second season.
LMU heads into 2020 dual play coming off of an 2019 8-15 dual play record while going 5-4 in conference play. Last season, the Lions had a 4-0 sweep over the San Francisco Dons and fell to Santa Clara 1-4.
The Lions' first match will be on Saturday starting at 10:00 AM against the Dons starting with doubles play. LMU will pick back up play on Sunday at 10:00 AM to take on Santa Clara at LMU Tennis Center.
