LOS ANGELES - Returning to the Hilltop for the first time since last year's LMU men's basketball team earned their 20th win of the season, this year's battle between the Lions and Dons will have a different look this Saturday at 1 p.m.
LMU (7-11, 1-3 WCC) enters the game looking to put an end to its season-long three game losing streak, and pick up a true road win for the first time this season. San Francisco (13-6, 2-2 WCC) snapped their season-long three game losing skid with back-to-back conference wins in each of their last two games played.
The Lions have eight new players from last year's team, seven of whom are freshman. Despite the influx of new, young talent, LMU's top three scorers on the season are returners with junior
Eli Scott (15.9 ppg), sophomore
Ivan Alipiev (10.4 ppg), and senior
Erik Johansson (7.1 ppg) leading the way for the Lions. Johansson is coming off a career-night in the PCH Cup Thursday at Pepperdine, scoring 19 points on five made threes.
Depth has been an asset for the Lions all season. Nine players average double-digit minutes and all 12 active players average at least 7.5 minutes per game.
The Dons will look to take threes against LMU. San Francisco ranks seventh in the country in threes attempted and fifth in makes from long range.
USF's Charles Minlend is the reigning WCC Player of the Week. Each team has one conference player of the week this season, with
Eli Scott earning the award on Dec. 9, 2019 following a week where he averaged a double-double and recorded the first triple-double in program history
The game will air on Spectrum SportsNet, NBC Sports California, ROOT Sports Northwest (Tape Delay), AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, AT&T SportsNet Southwest, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, and stream on WCC Network out-of-market. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Jesse Kass can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio.
