The Loyola Marymount University men's soccer team (1-1) got their first win of the season with a 2-0 decision against Oral Roberts on Friday night at Sullivan Field.
The Lions went on the offensive early as they put together a pair of first half goals to seal the win for LMU.
Bastien Oberli got LMU on the board first when his free kick sailed past the Golden Eagles keeper giving him and the Lions the first goal of the game in the 31
st minute.
LMU followed the Oberli goal in the 44
th minute when
CJ Neville pushed one past the goalie on beautiful assists by
Gaetan Roux and
Duhaney Williams putting the Lions squarely ahead 2-0. It was a lead they would never relinquish throughout the night.
The Lions gave ORU their first loss of the season and outshot the Golden Eagles 20 to five. LMU's defense was also on full display as they held ORU to just four shots with none being on goal.
There were 24 fouls committed in the match and eight cards handed out in the game between the two teams.
The Lions return to the pitch on Sunday when the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers pay a visit to Sullivan Field for the first time with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m.
