LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount women's volleyball team (8-6, 2-0 WCC) picked up its second sweep of the week, as the Lions defeated San Francisco 3-0 in Gersten Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions continued their momentum from Thursday's sweep against Santa Clara, opening up set one with a 7-1 run.
Megan Rice had the first kill of the game, giving the Lions an early lead. The Dons were only able to get within five points of the Lions, while LMU then took its first double-digit lead of the set at 20-10. An attack error from USF gave the Lions their 25 point to win the set.
Up 1-0, the second set was a tighter for the Lions, as the Dons put the first two points on the board. A kill from
Jessie Prichard got the Lions on the board. LMU was not able to tie things up until 10-10, after a service ace from Prichard, the Lions then took their first lead of the set. The teams were neck and neck the rest of the set, tying things up four times and having three lead changes. The Lions finally broke away after 21-21. A kill from
Rose Booth gave the Lions their 25 point to win the set.
With one more set needed to win the match, the Lions continued their momentum from the first two sets. The Dons took the first lead, but the Lions responded after a service ace from
Tess Reid and held onto the lead the rest of the set.
Emma Johnson secured the win for the Lions after a kill, making it a 25-20 set, winning the match.
Rice led the team in kills with 15 and a .625 attack percentage, while
Savannah Slattery had 13 with a .565 attack percentage.
Prichard had 34 of the team's 37 assists, while
Bo Culo led the team in digs with nine. Rice and Slattery led the Lions in total blocks with four a piece.
The Lions put up 11 total blocks, compared to USF's four. The Lions had a .349 hitting percentage, while the Dons had .173.
Up next: The Lions will head to Provo, UT to take on No. 9 BYU for their first conference road match of the season on Tuesday.
