LOS ANGELES – Each team finished the game with eight shots, but it was the one corner kick difference that changed the game Friday night at Sullivan Field. LMU (0-6-2) and Cal State Fullerton (6-2-0) played a scoreless 81 minutes until the Titans scored the game winner directly off a corner kick to win, 1-0.
Fullerton earned the corner kick at exactly the 81 minute mark and Atlanta Primus was able to put the ball on frame from the corner kick position for the game's only goal.
LMU's two best looks came in each half. The Lions started the game with a near sister connection as
Skylar Robledo's cross connected with the head of
Sage Robledo in the 19
th minute. The ball went off target high for a goal kick.
In the second half, with the score line level at 0-0,
Skylar Robledo received the ball down the left flank and covered nearly half the field before she was pulled down in the box for a penalty. Senior
Jackie Fiacco lined up for the penalty kick in the 55
th minute, but missed wide right.
Freshman
Sadie Kenny earned her first career collegiate start, and made two saves in the full 90 minutes of action.
LMU will return to Sullivan Field for a 1 p.m. Sunday game against UC Santa Barbara.
