PULLMAN, Wash. – The 13
th-ranked Cougars (5-1-0) scored in the game's opening minutes, but LMU (0-5-2) provided a quick response to even things in the 10
th minute. The home side took a 21
stminute lead and held to secure a 2-1 win.
It took WSU less than three minutes to get on the board, as Morgan Weaver put the nationally-ranked Cougars ahead just 2:42 into the game.
Without allowing the early deficit to put the Lions out of the game, LMU capitalized on a foul call minutes later. LMU earned a free kick at the 6:34 mark and the offense was put into gear.

Maki Kono for the game-tying goal less than five minutes after the Lions fell behind.
The game looked to be high scoring as the Cougars added a second goal in the 21
stminute. Elyse Bennett scored the eventual game-winner following an LMU foul.
Despite only allowing the two goals, the Lions were outshot 26-5 in the game, with LMU's only shot on goal finding the back of the net.
LMU split goalkeeper responsibilities again with
Sadie Kenny replacing
Lee Erickson in the 23
rdminute. Kenny made five saves and did not allow a goal in the final 67-plus minutes in goal.
The team will return home from the Cougar Cup for two games this upcoming week. Sullivan Field will be the site for Thursday's 7pm game against Cal State Fullerton, then UC Santa Barbara comes to the Bluff on Sunday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
