Entering her 17
th season at the helm of the Loyola Marymount University women's swimming team, head coach
Bonnie Adair announced the 2019-20 schedule. The Lions will compete in 13 meets prior to the Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference Championships on Feb. 12 – 15 at East Los Angeles College.
"We are looking forward to this new season with six new freshman who are all expected to immediately contribute to the program. Our juniors and senior swimmers have already stepped in to fill the void left by last year's graduating class, and are creating a positive and fun training environment during this first month," said Adair. "When our competitions start in early October, we should be ready to perform well and are expecting to have many personal best performances by the mid-season Pepperdine Invitational in November."
The Lions open the season at the PCSC Relays on Oct. 4 followed by the PCSC Pentathlon the next day at the SPLASH CENTER in La Mirada, Calif.
The Lions have a couple of weeks off from competition before they go back into the starting blocks when they travel north to Washington and take on Seattle University and Grand Canyon University on Oct. 18 in Seattle then on Oct. 19 in Federal Way, Wash.
The Lions host their first home meet on Nov. 2 at Burns Aquatics Center when San Diego pays a visit and the following week LMU travels to Malibu to compete against Pepperdine on Nov. 8. LMU's next meet is Nov. 15 - 17 at East LA College for the Pepperdine Winter Invitational.
The Lions open up the new year with a meet against Cal State Bakersfield and UC San Diego in Bakersfield on Jan. 4. LMU's second and final home meet is the West Coast Conference Cup on Jan. 17 – 18 as Pepperdine and San Diego come to visit Burns. The final meet of the regular season sees the Lions travel to St. George, Utah and take on Dixie State on Jan. 25.
The season culminates with the PCSC Championships at East LA College on Feb. 12 – 15.
