The Loyola Marymount University men's soccer team (3-1) went on a scoring barrage and netted a season-high three goals en route to their 3-0 victory over Sacramento State on Friday night at Sullivan Field. The three-game win streak is the longest for the Lions since the 2016 season when LMU ended the year winning three-straight.
Â
The Lions got on the board first when
Danny Garcia's rocket shot found the back of the net in the 39
th minute off the assist by
Brandon Sanchez. The goal, Garcia's first of the season, put a spark into the crowd and energized the Lions putting them on the offensive the rest of the half.Â
Â
LMU followed up Garcia's beautiful goal with an unassisted one by Sanchez. He was able to put the ball past the Hornets goalie in the 48
th minute putting the Lions squarely in command at 2-0.
Â
As the second half begun the Lions didn't take their foot off the gas pedal. In the 55
th minute LMU scored another goal when
Duhaney Williams struck a nice shot past the goalie off the Sanchez assist.Â
Â
Sanchez put his stamp all over the game as he assisted two of LMU's goals as well as scoring one himself. Â
Â
The Lions got another strong performance from goalie
Jacob Jackson as he turned away 16 Hornets shots with five of them coming on goal. The shutout was Jackson's third straight of the season for LMU.
Â
The Lions get one day off before they return to the pitch and welcome the UC Davis Aggies to Sullivan on Sunday with kickoff set for 3:00 p.m.Â
