Lions Sign Transfer, Mayo

LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team adds transfer Keenan Mayo to the roster, as Mayo has signed to play with the Lions starting with the 2019-20 season, announced by head coach Tom Lloyd on Friday.

"I am extremely pumped to have Keenan join our program," said Lloyd. "He will bring immediate experience and impact to our growing program."

Mayo comes as a transfer from the University of Illinois, where he was nominated for freshman of the year after putting together an impressive spring campaign, beating several ranked opponents in singles and doubles play. Mayo was ranked as high as No. 71 while at Illinois.

The Long Beach Calif. native was ranked as high as No. 55 in the Junior World Ranking and has a current ATP ranking of 603. Mayo represented the United States in the Junior Davis World Cup and is a two-time Gold Ball Singles winner.

"I believe LMU offers the perfect balance of academic help and stability needed to perform as a high-level student athlete," said Mayo. "I couldn't be happier to start a new beginning at LMU"

Mayo and the rest of the Lions will kick off their 2019-20 season this fall, with dual matches to begin in the spring.
