Top 10 Highlights and Memories, accomplishments, and moments highlighted Loyola Marymount's 2018-19 school year. As we prepare for more excitement in 2019-20, we're counting down the Top 10 Moments of this past year.

LOS ANGELES – Academics reigned supreme once again within the LMU Athletic Department. In addition to conference All-Academic numbers approaching triple digits (with water polo announces still to come), the academic year featured a number of success not only in competition, but also in the classroom.

LMU golf, men's water polo, and swimming were lauded for their Academic Progress Rate (APR) this spring, earning NCAA Public Recognition Awards for multiyear APR scores that rank among the top-10 percent nationally in their respective sports.

Over the course of the 14 years that Public Recognition Awards have been distributed, women's swimming has earned the honor 10 times (2004-05, 2009-10 through 2017-18), while men's golf has been named five times (2009-10 through 2011-12, 2016-17 through 2017-18). This is the second consecutive selection for men's water polo (2016-17 and 2017-18).

This year marks the third straight year that LMU has had three teams earn Public Recognition Awards. The LMU athletics department posted its most NCAA Public Recognition Award recipients in 2011-12, claiming five. Overall, LMU has had 11 teams receive public recognition a total of 33 times.

The academic year came to a close at the ninth annual West Coast Conference Honors Dinner, held at the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon. At the event, LMU women's soccer student-athlete Emma Tyrnauer was named the Female Postgraduate Scholarship winner.

Tyrnauer is the second straight Lion and third overall to win a Postgraduate Scholarship since the award's inception in 2004.

A four-year member of the Dean's List and a two-time WCC All-Academic First Team selection, Tyrnauer held a 3.98 cumulative GPA in biology while starting all 78 matches in her four-year career. She is an All-WCC selection who ranks fourth in LMU history in minutes played. Tyrnauer was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year at Loyola Marymount after a standout junior campaign, as well as a second team member of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team and a Senior CLASS Award nominee. Tyrnauer plans to pursue a career as a veterinarian and has been accepted to the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
