2019 Schedule
The 2019 Loyola Marymount men's soccer schedule was officially released on Wednesday afternoon, head coach
Paul Krumpe and LMU Athletics announced. The 20-match slate includes 11 contests played at Sullivan Field, including the first six games played at home to kick off the season.
The Lions begin the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 24, hosting an exhibition match against UC Santa Barbara followed by the home opener on Friday, Aug. 30 versus Virginia Tech. LMU's homestand continues the following week with contests against Oral Roberts on Sept. 6 and Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 8. The Lions homestand concludes with matches against Sacramento State on Sept. 13 and UC Davis on Sept. 15.
"Starting the season with an ACC opponent at home is big for us," said head coach
Paul Krumpe. "It's a rarity for an ACC team to travel to the west coast so we're excited to play them. It's the start of six-straight games at Sullivan Field so we're looking forward to it."
LMU's first venture on the road takes place on Sept. 19 when they travel to UC Riverside, beginning a four-game stretch. The road slate follows with games against Cal State Northridge on Sept. 22 and the next week against Cal Poly SLO on Sept. 26 and Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 29.
The Lions return home for a single-game against UC Irvine on Oct. 3 before travelling to Kalamazoo, Michigan for a contest against Western Michigan on Oct. 6.
"We play every single member of the Big West Conference so we'll have a good indication of how we fit in the mix in the west coast before WCC season starts," said Krumpe. "We play every game in California except for one in Michigan so that'll be interesting. We start conference with a couple of home games so that'll be good for us as well."
WCC play begins for the Lions on Oct. 12 with a home contest against Gonzaga before finishing up non-conference play against Marshall on Oct. 15.
LMU returns to WCC competition on Oct. 19 with a matchup against Portland before taking on Pacific and San Diego on the road on Oct. 26 and Oct. 30 respectively. The Lions Senior Day will take place at Sullivan Field for their final home game against Santa Clara on Nov. 2.
The Lions regular season concludes with road contests against Saint Mary's on Nov. 9 and San Francisco on Nov. 16.
