LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- Loyola Marymount beach volleyball players
Sara Kovac and
Jessie Prichard were named the West Coast Conference Pair of the Month, announced by the conference on Thursday.
The pair went undefeated at the West Coast Conference Beach Volleyball Championship, leading the Lions to their first-ever conference title after beating No. 5 Pepperdine for the first time in program history.
Prichard and Kovac beat pairs from Saint Mary's twice, Pacific and Pepperdine three times. The duo's 21-19, 27-25 win over Pepperdine in the final round forced a tie-breaker between the Waves, where Kovac and Prichard forced Alexis Filippone and Skylar Caputo to three sets, coming out with a 24-26, 21-18, 27-25 win and leading the Lions to 3-2 victory.
The pair held down the No. 3 spot for the majority of the season and went 12-1 in the month of April. Kovac and Prichard were named to the AVCA Top flight Award Honors for Flight Three.
Prichard and Kovac led the Lions to a 27-11 overall record and a 9-3 record in conference play.
