LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount softball team will play its last series of the season this weekend against Pacific, in Stockton, Calif.
The Lions will head into their last series of the season on a five-game winning streak, including a sweep over Saint Mary's. LMU's sweep over the Gaels included a 15-inning game, the longest game in program history; the Lions came out with a 2-1 win.
LMU's 9-3 conference record puts the team second in the West Coast Conference, right after BYU. The Lions and the Cougars are the only two WCC teams that have winning records.
The Lions continue to lead the conference in team pitching, with a team earned run average of 2.30, while
Hannah Bandimere,
Samantha Manti and
Linnay Wilson hold down the top three spots for individual pitching, as Bandimere has a 1.98 ERA, Manti has a 2.23 ERA and Wilson has a 2.42 ERA.
Manti leads the conference in strikeouts with 112 over 125 innings pitched, while Bandimere is fourth in the conference with 90 strikeouts over 137 innings pitched.
Molly Grumbo is second in the conference in hits and third in the conference in runs scored, as she has 52 and 29 on the season. Grumbo is fifth in the conference in batting averaging with .349, while
Andrea Gonzalez is eighth with .320.
Delanie Wisz,
Megan Dedrick and Gonzalez hold down three of the top five spots for RBIs, with 13, 11 and nine, respectively.
Last season, LMU went 2-1 against Pacific at home. The Lions are 7-11 against the Tigers all-time.
The Lions will play the first game of the series on Saturday at starting at noon, with the second game of the day starting at 2:00 p.m. The teams will pick back up on Sunday for the Lions' last game of the season at noon.
This will be the last regular season series for seniors
Hannah Bandimere and
Irma Sanchez.
