BAKERSFIELD, Calif., -- The No. 13 Loyola Marymount beach volleyball team had a day of sweeps in Bakersfield on Saturday, as the team beat Cal State Bakersfield and Ottawa University Arizona 5-0.
The Lions started their day with a sweep against OUAZ, as the doubles tandem of
Megan Nash and
Bo Culo beat Andrea Gonzalez and Viri Serrano on court one 21-17, 21-14.
Savannah Slattery and
Reka Orsi Toth beat Valerie Rodgers and Mikelle Taylor 21-7, 21-11.
Sara Kovac and
Jessie Prichard were forced to three sets, but came out with a win against Ashleigh Atsaros and Alyssa Dincoff on court three 19-21, 21-9, 15-4.
Veronica Nederend and
Emma Doud didn't let their opponents reach double-digits, as they beat Gianna Kioa and Emily Morris 21-8, 21-9 on court four.
Erin Martin and
Ella Boehle picked up a win over Jessica Youngberg and Mariah Clausen 21-10, 21-18 on court five.
Up 1-0 on the day, the Lions took on CSUB, where Nederend and Doud put the first point on the board after beating Emily Hansen and Brooke Boiseau 21-9, 21-9.
Orsi Toth and Slattery beat Cameron Solberg and Milica Vukobrat 21-7, 25-23, while Kovac and Prichard clinched the match for the Lions after beating Sidney Wicks and Hana Makonova 21-12, 21-12.
Page Panter paired up with Martin on court five, the tandem came out with a 21-12, 21-15 win. Nash and Culo put the fifth point on the board for the Lions after beating Mattison DeGarmo and Briannah Mariner on court one 21-10, 21-12.
Next week, the Lions will head to Hawaii for the Hawaii Invitational, where they will be taking on No. 6 Hawaii, Washington and San Jose State.
