CLAREMONT, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team put up a fight in the semifinal round of the West Coast Conference Championship, as the team battled San Diego until the end, but fell 4-2.
Starting in doubles play,
Ryan Brown and
Diego Nava fell to Garrett Kurtz and Keerasuntonpong 6-3 on court three, while
Ethan Prost and
Lucas Moreno fell to David Norfeldt and Joel Gamerov on court two, 6-4, clinching the doubles point for San Diego.
Down 1-0 headed into singles play,
Nick Borchenko fell to August Holmgren on court two, 6-0, 6-2. Prost put the first singles point on the board for the Lions, as he beat Kurtz on court six, 6-4, 6-4.
The Lions tied things up when Moreno beat Gamerov on court four, 6-4, 7-6.
Lukas Moenter pushed Gui Osorio to the end, but couldn't come out with the win, as he lost 1-6, 7-6, 7-6 on court one.
Nava pushed Nico Borter to three sets, but fell 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 on court three, clinching the match for San Diego.
Austin Di Giulio was up in his third set when the match was abandoned.
The Lions close out their 2018-19 season 8-15 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
