Lions Head to Honolulu for Hawaii Invitational

LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount beach volleyball team (19-8, 4-1 WCC) will head to Honolulu, HI to participate in the Hawaii Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. 
 
The Lions will head into this weekend's matches Ranked No. 12 in the DiG poll and No. 14 in the NCAA poll. LMU is coming off of an undefeated weekend in Bakersfield, where the team beat Ottawa University Arizona 5-0 and CSU Bakersfield 4-1. 
 
In the Lions' last appearance at the Hawaii Invitational, LMU went 3-2, beating Utah twice and Washington once, and then falling to then No. 3 Hawaii and Washington, taking third place overall. 
 
This year's invitational includes returners No. 6 Hawaii and Washington, while San Jose State will be added to the mix. 
 
The Lions played Hawaii twice last season and fell in both matches, 5-0 and 3-2. LMU played Washington a total of three teams last season and went 1-2. This will be the first time the Lions have taken on San Jose State. 
 
LMU will kick off the Hawaii Invitational on Saturday against No. 6 Hawaii at 10:30 a.m., and will then play Washington at noon and San Jose State at 3:00 p.m. 
 
The semi-finals will start on Sunday with one match at 9:00 a.m. and the second at 10:30 a.m. The championship match will be played on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
