LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The No. 13 Loyola Marymount beach volleyball team (13-7) will head up to Santa Cruz, Calif. for the West Coast Conference Mid-Season Invitational that will start on Friday and conclude on Saturday.
The Lions will head into the invitational coming off of a split week, as the team swept Oregon 5-0, but fell to No. 1 UCLA 5-0.
The No. 13 Lions are among just three WCC teams that are ranked in the top 20, as Pepperdine is ranked No. 5 and Saint Mary's is ranked No. 18. The only WCC team the Lions have played this season is Pepperdine, where the Lions fell 5-0.
LMU will kick off the invitational against Portland on Friday morning. This will be the LMU's first meeting with the Pilots, who are 0-3 on the season.
The Lions will pick back up at 1:00 p.m. to take on Pacific. The last time the Lions took on the Tigers was last season at the WCC Championships, where LMU beat Pacific 4-1. The Tigers are 0-2 on the season.
Depending on how the Lions perform on Friday, will determine what time and who the team will play on Saturday.
