Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif., The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker to Nebraska on Wednesday, as the team battled until the end, but lost 4-3.
The Lions set the tone in doubles play, as
Nick Borchenko and
Ethan Prost picked up a quick 6-1 win over Victor Moreno Lozano and Micah Klousia on court two.
Lukas Moenter and
Thien Nguyen beat Toby Boyer and William Gleason on court one 7-5, clinching the doubles point for the Lions.
Up 1-0, the Lions maintained their momentum in singles play, as
Lucas Moreno swept Jon Meyer on court six, 6-0, 6-0, giving the Lions the first singles point. Borchenko put the third point on the board for the Lions after beating Klousia 6-4, 6-3 on court two.
Thien Nguyen fell to Victor Moreno Lozano on court four 6-2, 6-4, giving Nebraska its first point of the match, while Prost was defeated by Isaac Nortey on court for 6-2, 6-2.
Max Kaiser pushed Gleason in his second set, but ended up falling 6-2, 7-6 to tie things up, 3-3.
Lukas Moenter battled against Toby Boyer, pushing him to three sets, but came out with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 loss on court one, clinching the match for Nebraska.
The Lions will be back in action this Saturday to take on rival Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif. at 2:00 p.m.
