Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, as the team beat New Mexico 4-3 at home. 
 
"Good win today against a very well coached and fiery team," said head coach Tom Lloyd. "We were able to get our legs under us in doubles and carry some good momentum into the singles play." 
 
Despite the match being pushed back due to a rain delay, the Lions (1-3) started off the match on a strong note. Thien Nguyen and Lukas Moenter set the tone in doubles play when they beat Dominic West and Facundo Bermejo on court two 6-4.
 
Nick Borchenko and Diego Nava beat Ricky Hernandez Tong and Stepan Holis on court one 7-6, clinching the doubles point for the Lions. 
 
Up 1-0, the Lions kept the momentum going in singles play, as Nava quickly beat Holis on court three 6-1, 6-3. Borchenko took on West on court two, and fell 6-3, 6-3. 
 
Ethan Prost picked up a win over Casey Recci on court six, giving the Lions a 3-2 lead. Austin Di Giulio took on Facundo Bermejo on court five, where he battled in set one, but couldn't hold on, falling 7-5, 6-1. 
 
Moenter, who held down the No. 1 position for the Lions battled it out against Hernandez Tong and came out with a 7-5, 7-6 win, clinching the match for the Lions. 
 
The Lions will be back in action on Sunday to take on UNLV at LMU Tennis Courts at noon.
