LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount beach volleyball team (5-1) swept Cal State Northridge and Vanguard University 5-0 on Thursday, while falling to No. 2 USC 4-1 on Wednesday. 
 
Lions vs No. 2 USC
The Lions played their first of three matches of the week on Wednesday against the No. 2 Trojans, where the Lions battled until the end, as three courts pushed USC to three sets, but couldn't hold on, as LMU fell 4-1. 
 
The doubles tandems of Bo Culo and Megan Rice, Erin Martin and Veronica Nederend were the first pairs to play. 
 
Culo and Rice took on Haley Hallgren and Alexandra Poletto at the No. 3 spot, where they lost their first set 22-20, but came back and won their second set 21-18, forcing a third, but the doubles tandem couldn't hold on, as they fell 17-15 in their third set. 
 
Martin and Nederend took on Cammie Dorn and Mollie Ebertin at the No. 5 spot, where they lost their first set 21-18, won their second after the seventh set point 28-26, but lost their third set 15-13. 
 
Down 2-0, the doubles tandems of Reka Orsi Toth and Savannah Slattery and Sara Kovac and Jessie Prichard took the sand. Orsi Toth and Slattery fell 21-17, 21-13 at the No. one spot, clinching the match for the Trojans. 
 
Kovac and Prichard beat Joy Dennis and Maja Kaiser 21-19, 21-16 at the No. 4 spot, giving them an undefeated 4-0 record. 
 
Emma Doud and Megan Nash put up a fight at the No. 2 spot, but fell after three sets to Terese Cannon and Sammy Slater 18-21, 21-15, 15-9, giving the Trojans a 4-1 win. 
 
Lions vs. CSUN
Coming off of their first loss of the season, the Lions turned things around, as they swept CSUN 5-0 at Cal State Northridge. 
 
Slattery and Orsi Toth were first to finish, as they beat Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner at the No. 1 spot 21-14, 21-17, putting the first point on the board of the Lions. 
 
Mice and Culo picked up the Lions' second point after beating Nicole Nevarez and Lexi McLeod after three sets 17-21, 21-17, 15-12, while Nash and Doud beat Darbi Honeycutt and Mikaela Maughan at the No. 2 spot 21-16, 21-13, clinching the match for the Lions. 
 
Martin and Nederend picked up a quick 21-12, 21-14 win on court five against Cassidy Rosse and Kailey Klein, while Kovac and Prichard beat Taylor Brydon and Lauren McMurray 21-14, 21-15. 
 
Paige Panter and Sylvia Hernandex picked up a quick win at the exhibition spot 21-15, 21-17. 
 
LMU vs Vanguard
Up 1-0 on the day, the Lions maintained momentum, as they picked up their second sweep of the day and fourth sweep of the season against Vanguard. 
 
Slattery and Orsi Toth cruised past Kelli Dowell and Hannah Holder 21-4, 21-11, putting the Lions' first point on the board. Kovac and Prichard moved up the No. 3 spot, where they beat Dani Erdelatz and Brooke Wilsman 21-5, 21-7, giving the doubles tandem their sixth win of the season. Martin and Nederend beat Eliana Johnson and Karly Cantu 21-10, 21-11, clinching the match for the Lions. 
 
Nash and Doud defeated Gabby Morrison and Charity Dennis at the No. 2 spot, 21-4, 21-11. Paige Painter and Sylvia Hernandez made their season debut at the No. 5 spot and beat Kayla Darm and Karli Burk 21-17, 21-19.
