Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team battled against UNC Wilmington on Saturday, but fell 5-2 at LMU Tennis Center.
The Lions started off strong in doubles play, as
Lukas Moenter and
Thien Nguyen beat Cole Groetsch and Michael Copeland on court one, 6-2, while
Diego Nava and
Ethan Prost beat Bruno Caula and Michael Morphy on court two, 6-4, clinching the doubles point for the Lions.
Up 1-0, the Lions went into singles play, where
Cartier Juan took on Davide Innocenti on court six, but fell 6-0, 6-1.
Nguyen took on Daniel Groom at the No. 3 spot and fell 6-2, 6-4, while
Austin Di Giulio fell to Caula on court four 6-4, 6-0.
Diego Nava was defeated by Austin Hussey on court two, 6-1, 6-4, clinching the match for UNC Wilmington.
Down 4-1,
Ethan Prost pushed Copeland to three sets, but fell 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 on court five.
Lukas Moenter pushed Agustin Savarino to three sets on court one and came out with a win, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, finishing the match with a 5-2 loss.
The Lions will be back in action on March 1 for the Pacific Invitational, their first conference match of the season.
