Box Score EUGENE, Ore., -- The Loyola Marymount men's tennis team put up a strong showing in doubles play, but couldn't hold on, as the team lost to Oregon in Eugene 6-1. 
 
"We came out and played solid doubles, I was happy with that," said head coach Tom Lloyd. "We did not have the belief today that we were going to win and with that, Oregon rolled us in singles. We will address this belief first thing in practice this week"
 
The Lions had an impressive performance in doubles play, as Lukas Moenter and Thien Nguyen beat Emmanuel Coste and Thomas Laurent on court two 6-2. Ryan Brown and Ethan Prost put up a fight on court three, but fell to Riki Oshima and Charles Roberts 6-2. Nick Borchenko and Diego Nava clinched the doubles point for the Lions after beating Joshua Charlton and Ty Gentry 6-4 on court one. 
 
Up 1-0 in singles play, Moenter took on No. 3 Laurent on court one and fell 6-3, 6-0, while Nava fell to Gentry on court three, 6-2, 6-2. 
 
Borchenko took on No. 80 Emmanuel Coste on court two, but fell 6-3, 6-1. Austin Di Giulio took on Roberts on court six and lost 6-4, 6-2, clinching the match for the Ducks. 
 
Max Kaiser battled in his first set, but ended up losing to Charlton 7-5, 6-2 on court five. Nguyen battled it out, pushing Oshima to three sets, but fell 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5). 
 
The Lions are now 1-4 on the season and will be back in action on Saturday to take on UNC Wilmington at 1:00 pm at LMU Tennis Center.
