Three Loyola Marymount University Lions men's soccer players have earned 2019 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's All-West Region Team recognition. Junior defender
Gerardo Lopez was named to the First Team, junior midfielder
Bastien Oberli was selected to the Second Team and freshman
Noel Caliskan was tabbed as a member of the Third Team.Â

The teams are selected through voting by member coaches in those respective divisions. Student-athletes earning First Team All-Region honors are now eligible to earn All-America status.

Lopez, one of the Lions top defender's, appeared and started in 19 games for LMU leading the team in minutes played at 1,728. On the year, he had six shots with two on goal, one goal, one assist and was responsible for three points.Â

Oberli, the second-leading goal scorer for the Lions, appeared in 15 games while making 10 starts accounting for 762 minutes played for LMU. He was responsible for four goals, two assists, 10 points, 24 shots with 13 shots on goal while netting three game winning goals for the Lions.

Caliskan was second on the team in minutes played at 1,712 and appeared in 20 games with 19 being starts for LMU. He was responsible for two assists, two points, 14 shots and nine shots on goal.

All three underclassmen were key to the Lions returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2013 season. Head Coach
Paul Krumpe and his Lions will look to make back-to-back appearances in the postseason for the first time since putting together a string of four-straight that ran from 2001 through the 2004 campaign.
