LOS ANGELES - Coming off consecutive home wins for the first time this season, LMU men's basketball (5-5) has returned to .500 and is set to take on UC Davis (4-8) on the road.
Despite UC Davis' overall record, the Aggies are 2-0 this season at home, compared to 1-6 in true road games. Two of their road losses on the year have come to West Coast Conference teams, losing at Portland and, most recently, at San Diego on Friday night.
The Aggies do a great deal of their damage from the free throw line. UC Davis ranks 17th in the country in free throw percentage at 77.1 percent from the line. The team also leads the Big West Conference with 151 made free throws.
The two programs met last season in LMU's final non-conference game of 2018. The Lions picked up a dominant 77-59 win, after shooting a season-best 58.3 percent (28-for-48).
In the first 10 games of the 2019-20 season, LMU has already shot over 60 percent on three different occasions, with all three times resulting in wins. The Lions beat Grambling State with a 63.8 shooting percentage, Westcliff with a 63.5 percent mark, and Air Force after hitting 62.5 percent of shots. In total, LMU ranks sixth in Division I at 51.5 percent shooting on the season.
The game will stream on BigWest.tv. All LMU men's basketball games can be heard live on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Following the game, LMU will play Thursday's scheduled home game against Portland State at the Galen Center on the campus of USC due to Loyola Marymount University being the site of the Democratic National Committee Debate on Dec. 19. The remainder of the games of the calendar year will return to Gersten Pavilion, with LMU not playing on the road again until conference play.
