LOS ANGELES – Three Loyola Marymount University volleyball players earned 2019 West Coast Conference All-Academic recognition, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
To be considered, athletes were required to have at least a 3.20 GPA, while being a significant contributor to the team and having at least a sophomore standing.
Junior
Megan Rice was named to the 2019 West Coast Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team. She was one of 12 athletes nominated who had a 3.75 GPA or higher. Rice is one of 16 to make the All-Academic team.
The junior posted 193 kills over the season, while having 14 service aces and 53 total blocks. Rice only played in 18 matches due to injury. Rice is majoring in marketing and has a 3.87 GPA.
Seniors
Savannah Slattery and
Tess Reid were both named honorable mention. Slattery led the conference in kills, with 412 and posted 45 total blocks. Slattery will graduate LMU with a major in marketing.
Reid led the Lions in assists with 884, while going eighth in the conference. Reid will graduate from LMU with a degree in studio arts.
While Slattery and Reid will be graduating, Rice will return too LMU next season to compete as a senior.
