The No. 22 Loyola Marymount University Lions men's soccer team (5-2-3), according to Top Drawer Soccer, returned to Sullivan Field for the first time in over two weeks and battled back and forth all night and at the conclusion of 110 minutes played against UC Irvine ended in a 3-3 draw on Thursday night.

The Lions, playing in their third straight overtime game, went back and forth in a nail bitter against the Anteaters but neither team could get the game winning goal and ended the contest in a draw.

LMU and UCI were testing each other out in the early portions of the first half until junior Duhaney Williams broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute when his shot from CJ Neville and Narciso Cervantes found the back of the net giving the Lions an early 1-0 lead. LMU would take that one goal advantage into the break.

The Lions and Anteaters were similar in shots, saves and corners with UCI leading in shots (9-7) while both teams were tied in corners and saves at one each entering the first half break.

UCI got on the board early in the second half getting the equalizer in the 46th minute knotting the game at one. The Anteaters scored once more a couple of minutes later with Christian Gutierrez's goal in the 48th minute.

The Lions were able to get a goal of their own in the early portions of the second half as both teams were going back and forth. This time Neville was the recipient of a Williams assist and found the back of the net in the 51st minute tying the game at two.

In the 58th minute UCI was able to retake the lead on Gutierrez's second goal of the night. Both teams settled into the second half and were going back and forth until Cervantes' goal in the 78th minute tied the game at three.

The Lions were able to put up more shots against the Anteaters in both overtime sessions but couldn't get the game winner, ending the thriller at three goals each.

LMU heads back on the road for a Sunday, Oct. 6 match against the Mid-American Conference's Western Michigan Broncos. This will be the first matchup between the two schools with kickoff set for 10:00 a.m. pacific time.
