LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team (12-10, 6-4 WCC) fell to No. 22 San Diego 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Gersten Pavilion.

The Lions opened up set one on a strong note, as
Jessie Prichard opened up the match with a service ace, getting the Lions on the board first. San Diego tied things up three times, but the Lions never gave them the lead. The Lions took their largest lead of the set at 22-16, and then went on to win 25-21.

Savannah Slattery opened up set two with a kill, but the Toreros quickly responded and then took the lead. LMU took the lead back one more time, while there were five lead changes. Fighting until the end, LMU ended up falling 25-22 in set two.
Tied at 1-1, set three was neck and neck, as USD put the first point on the board, but then the lions quickly responded, tying things up and then taking the lead. There were 12 tied scores and four lead changes. Tied at 19-19, the Toreros went on a 6-2 run to take set three 25-21.
LMU opened up the fourth set with a kill from
Rose Booth, but San Diego quickly tied things up and took the lead. The set was neck and neck until USD went on a 9-2 run. The Lions weren't able to keep up, dropping the fourth set 25-15, giving USD the win.
Megan Rice led the team in kills with 16 and a .294 attack percentage, while Slattery had 10 kills.
Tess Reid led the team in assists, with 38, while having 10 digs.
Bo Culo led the team in digs with 11.
Alexis Morrow and Rice led the team in blocks, totaling seven and eight, respectively.
The Lions put up 12 total blocks compared to San Diego's six. LMU had 49 total kills, while the Toreros had 53.
