MEET RESULTS

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Loyola Marymount swimming team's 2019 stretch of the season is officially underway with Saturday's pair of duals in the books. The Lions faced both the host UC San Diego Tritons, as well as Cal State Bakersfield. LMU came up short against each opponent, losing to UCSD, 226-60, and falling to CSUB, 241-47.
 
The day started with a sixth-place finish from LMU's "A" 200 Yard Medley Relay Team who finished in 1:53.22. LMU's "B" Relay Team placed ninth in 1:57.42
 
Lanna Kozlowski took fifth in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with her time of 11:02:49, with Keara Reilly finishing a place behind her with a 11:04.81 finish.
 
The Lions placed fourth in the 200 Yard Freestyle, thanks to Isabel Willis and her time of 1:56.53. Christine Chan (2:04.66) and Taylor Pajunen (2:10.66) placed 13^thand 14^th, respectively, in the race.
 
Abbey Chop led the way for LMU in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:01.94, good for seventh overall. Gabby Carufel placed 11 with her 1:02.21, while Samantha Smith (1:06.35) and Nicole Schiel (1:09.34) took 13^ththen 14^thplaces.
 
Marley Abbott's 100 Yard Backstroke was good for sixth after finishing in 1:11.51. Lydia Zicker took ninth with a time of 1:14.08 and Mary Schell placed 12^thafter recording a 1:16.51.
 
Four consecutive LMU swimmers closed out the 200 Yard Backstroke as Olivia Nielsen (2:21.95), Taylor Pajunen (2:22.33), Sabine Caplan (2:23.06), and Sav Kim (2:35.24) placed 10^ththrough 14^th.
 
Isabel Willis (25.29) and Marley Abbott (25.40) finished back-to-back in ninth then 10^thin the 50 Yard Freestyle. Samantha Smith's 26.93 placed her in 14^thin the event.
 
Isabel Willis also took fifth in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.46. Serena Myatt finished in 11^thafter recording a 57.47.
 
In the 200 Yard Backstroke, Abby Chopp finished top-10 with a time of 2:18.42, while Gabby Carufel's 2:22.68 secured 13^thplace.
 
Lydia Zicker (2:37.59) placed eighth in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, and Mary Schell (2:42.20) took 11^thin the same race.
 
Three Lions competed in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Lanna Kozlowski placed 10^thwith a time of 5:24.74, with Keara Reilly finishing a place her in 11^that 5:25.96 and Sabine Caplin rounding out the event with a 5:46.08.
 
Christine Chan placed 10^thin the 100 Yard Butterfly with her 1:01.62, while Olivia Nelson (1:06.12), Nicole Schiel (1:08.26), and Sav Kim (1:09.65) touched the way back-to-back-to-back.
 
In the 200 Yard IM, Christine Chan (2:21.67), Lanna Kozlowski (2:22.80), and Lydia Zicker (2:24.75) finished three straight, while Taylor Pajunen (2:31.74) was 13^th.
 
In the final event, the LMU "A" Relay Team took seventh in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:51.76, while the LMU "B" Relay Team closed out the meet in ninth after finishing in 4:07.33.
 
The Lions will next compete on campus for the Lions Cup on Jan. 11 and 12. The two-day meet will feature LMU swimming against Pepperdine and Alaska-Fairbanks at Burns Aquatics Center.
