Tight Finishes Have Been The Recent Trend Between Lions and Tigers

Live Stats | Live Stream | Tickets

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Loyola Marymount men's basketball (15-6, 3-4 WCC) has already matched their highest win total of the Mike Dunlap era, and the calendar still has not flipped to February.

LMU has one more game in the month of January, Thursday night's matchup against Pacific. The Tigers (11-10, 1-5 WCC). The Tigers are coming off a four-point home win over Portland on Saturday, and sweeping the season series against the Pilots.

Each of the last five meetings between the two programs have been close with each game finishing within six points or going to overtime since Feb. of 2016.
Based on the numbers, expect much of this game to be played inside the paint. Both the Tigers and Lions rank in the bottom of the West Coast Conference in made threes at 399 and 346, respectively.

Individually from the stripe, Pacific's Roberto Gallinat and LMU's James Batemon rank second and third in the WCC, as well as ninth and 17th in the nation, in free throws made. Each of those two players lead their respective teams in scoring on the season as well. This may be an advantage for the Lions, as Pacific has committed the most fouls of any WCC school this season at a mark of 20.2 per game.

Batemon leads the conference with 36 total steals on the year, with Jahlil Tripp of the Tigers two back at 34 total.

The game will tip at 7:30 p.m. and stream on TheW.tv. The LMU women's game will precede the contest and tip at 5 p.m. between the Lions and BYU Cougars. Tickets for either game will grant access to the other.
