IRVINE, Calif. – After a scoreless first half, the UC Irvine Anteaters (3-1-1) netted two goals in the game's final 45 minutes to defeat LMU (1-3) 2-0 on Friday night.

Both of UCI's goals came within a three-minute stretch in the second half, as Ivan Canales put in the first at 54:55 and Jose Ortiz finished the second at 57:31.

The Anteaters racked up 10 shots in the win, including six on-goal. LMU tallied eight shots with three on-goal. Lions' keeper
Paul Lewis secured four saves in a full 90 minutes on the night.

Sophomores
Francis Avoce and Kris Forecand took two shots apiece while freshman
Kyle Carey also finished with two shots, freshman
Isak Helgason had one and senior
Matthew Gooden another. Both of Carey's shots were on-goal, with the Lions' other on-goal shot coming from Avoce.
The Lions were charged with 20 fouls in the loss, while the Anteaters finished with five.

After this road stretch, the Lions return home on Sunday to take on Long Island at Sullivan Field. Sunday's game will serve as a LMU camper reunion as well as LMU sorority and fraternity life day. LMU campers will be invited to participate in on-field experiences before the game, and members of the LMU sorority and fraternity life will be recognized at halftime. There will also be a LMU men's soccer poster giveaway for all fans in attendance and the team will hold a post-match autograph session.
