MORAGA, Calif. – The Lions played double-overtime for the second time in as many games and earned a 0-0 tie to open conference play.
"We have to be better at finishing our chances," said Head Coach
Michelle Myers. "We are lucky they struggled to do the same today because both teams had chances and didn't take advantage of them."
LMU (2-6-4, 0-0-1 WCC) took 10 shots compared to nine from Saint Mary's (5-4-2, 0-0-1), with each team putting four on target.
Charlee Pruitt and Maleah Milner each made four saves over the 110 minutes in net for their respective teams.
Skylar Robledo and
Emma Tyrnauer led the Lions with three shots apiece, with
Sarina Bolden tallying two of her own.
All seven LMU corner kicks were taken by
Maki Kono, including five in the second half alone.
"Now we try to recover our legs before Sunday's game at UOP and hopefully score a few goals," said Myers.
West Coast Conference competition continues on Sunday as LMU stays north to face Pacific. The Tigers open WCC hosting Pepperdine on Friday night.
